ROMANTICISING FIRE
Romanticising Fire was my final major project from university. The main inspiration came from looking at grand fireplaces in old buildings which lead me to explore the way we contain fire in beautiful fireplaces to provide warmth and beauty, yet the fire itself can be destructive, dangerous and uncontrollable. These powerful contradictions lead me to create a collection that makes women feel empowered, strong and beautiful like the fire contained in the gold casing. With deep shades of red and black contrasting with a light colour cream symbolising smoke, the dresses represent the fire floating around the body. Paired with every dress is a corset with gold embellishments representing the structure holding the fire. Together each outfit is made to flow with the female form, celebrating the body and empowering women to be themselves and not contained. Sustainability was crucial in this collection; all these pieces are made to last and to be treasured. Along with this all the pieces can be worn separately and the whole collection can be paired in different ways becoming extremely versatile. It can be worn as sheer outerwear or delicate lingerie.
